A dog shade tent or outdoor shelter should provide a genuinely shaded place to rest with good airflow and an easy exit. It is an accessory for supervised breaks in suitable conditions, not permission to leave a dog outside during excessive heat. Evaluate a pop-up shelter before taking it out
Assemble it at home without the dog inside. Check ventilation panels, door openings, floor construction and how it is anchored. The dog should be able to enter and leave comfortably when the setup is used as a resting shelter.
Look at the shaded interior with the sun from the side, not only overhead. A low doorway can allow direct light across much of the sleeping area as the afternoon progresses. You may need to move the structure or end the break.
Do not confuse ultraviolet claims with heat control
