ProDen PlaqueOff Powder: an option added to food

Check the thyroid warning first. The manufacturer does not recommend it for dogs with thyroid problems because the seaweed supplies iodine. Vet Aquadent FR3SH: a measured addition to drinking water
The 250ml FR3SH bottle is worth considering if a water-bowl routine is manageable. Virbac markets it to support plaque control and freshen breath. This recommendation concerns the current UK FR3SH product; do not transfer instructions from older Aquadent formulations or another brand.
Virbac directs owners to shake the bottle, add 2.5ml per 250ml of drinking water and replace the water every 24 hours. It also says to provide a separate bowl of plain fresh water. Its instructions exclude water fountains because compatibility with their filters is not guaranteed.
The practical trade-off: this saves direct handling of the mouth, but adds measuring and daily bowl preparation. If several people refill the bowls, agree who prepares the dilution. If your dog resists brushing because their mouth hurts, arrange a dental check rather than simply switching products.
Make the routine comfortable before buying more
For a dog that worries about mouth handling, begin with short, positive sessions. PDSA’s mouth-check guide works from touching the lips to gently lifting them, rewarding calm acceptance. Move on only when the dog is comfortable; stop and take a break if they become worried.
